Glinskaya desert Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Glinskaya famous desert located in the village of Sosnovka Sumy region. The emergence of the shrine is due to the amazing history of appearance of the icon of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the early 16th century, beekeepers who place hives in the woods, they saw the shining image of the Virgin in one of the pine trees, and under the tree discovered the healing power. Since that time, people began to come to this miraculous place where soon a chapel was built, and after - the monastery where the monks performed worship. During the construction of the chapel of the monastery and the icon several times removed from the tree, but the next day found the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary on a pine tree. The first church on this site originated in the late 16th vekablagodarya efforts F. Milonova and his comrades. It was a wooden church named after the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Over its history, the desert several times passed Molchenskomu Pechersk monastery Putivl and only in 1764 became independent. Consecration of the church of the same name held in 1781

The 19th century was the heyday of the monastery, but during the Soviet era part of the desert has been selected, icons and other valuables confiscated, and in 1922 the monastery was closed. Miraculous icon was taken to s. Shalygina , but soon it was gone. On the ground, the former acting desert playground, then selhozarteli, farm and industrial combine.

The discovery of the desert happened in 1942. Having existed for 21 years, the monastery was closed again. From 1994 to the present day Glinskaya deserts open to all believers.
