Belovodsky reserve

In the valley of the river Sula Sumy region stretches Belovodsky hydrological reserve of national importance. Earth it extend to 1515.7 hectares. The reserve was created in 1980. Flora and fauna of the reserve is rich in its diversity. The banks of the old river beds and backwaters densely overgrown with reeds and cattails. On the hills of sedge meadows stretch. If you are lucky, you will find an orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis), which is included in the Red Book of Ukraine. You can also find rare specimens of birds: white, gray and a red heron, black stork, corncrake. In addition, there lives a turtle peat.
Often referred to as reserve Belovodskoe swamp. The name "Belovodsky" he received from the local village Belovode , near which is situated. A village, in turn, so called because of the color of the water in the river Sula - it blurs the limestone coast and becomes white.
