Church of St. Nicholas, Zhmerynka

Church of St. Nicholas is located in Zhmerynka Vinnytsia region and is one of its most important shrines. In 1901, the Commission approved the construction projects for the construction of military churches. Total until 1916 throughout the Russian Empire was established more than 60 churches of this type. The architect of the war plan was F. Wierzbicki.

Church of St. Nicholas was erected in 1904. The reason for his appearance here was the quartering of the 9 th and 10 th Infantry Regiment, who were part of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the city Zhmerynka. Built the temple in a military unit near the barracks of soldiers. The first church was the priest Vasily Glagolev. When the territory of Ukraine was established Soviet power, the Temple of St. Nicholas, as well as most of the churches have been closed and its dome and bell tower removed.

Today the church has been restored, it takes the local parishioners and guests, being here worship. Belfry also managed to repair, but its modern form does not correspond to the original. In 2005, thanks to donations from local patrons and parishioners were able to establish a new iconostasis. The temple was consecrated again. Despite the fact that it is located on the territory of the military unit, unimpeded access to it is at all. Church of St. Nicholas is always waiting for visitors. Now it is the rector Archpriest John Lukanov.
