House Chetkova

House Chetkova

House Captain Chetkova is in Vinnitsa on Pushkin Street. Now a few citizens are aware of its existence, not to mention the tourists, and especially about its history. But once the house was the most expensive and beautiful in the city. In the 60 years the building housed a hospital.

History of foundation of the house Chetkova

Alexander Chetkov was a retired officer (artillery) and nobleman. He moved to Vinnitsa in the early 20th century with the family. The house was built in 1910. Who was its architect is still uncertain. Some argue that the author of this unusual construction was architect of Kiev A. Listovich, and many still tend to think that the building created on a plan by local architect Gregory Artynova. He was just at that time held the post of chief architect of the Vinnitsa and created many beautiful buildings.

Chetkov began working as a teacher of gymnastics in a real school, and his daughter has taught children in a girls` school. About the captain of all who knew him remembered as a very quiet, closed and gloomy man, who spent not very interesting lessons, and life was not in sight. This does not correspond to the house in which he lived. The building was the most expensive residential location in the city, and for this reason the people believed that he received it in inheritance as their own could not afford to build such housing, receiving only one salary.

How does the house Chetkova

The house is built in the style of Viennese Art Nouveau, it has a great view, balconies without exiting and exotic device - slides from the second floor to the first, unprecedented early citizens. Inside were many sculptures. Captain lived in the city for long, and when the revolution began - left, because they do not support it. The further fate of the captain and his family is unknown.

Now the room is home Chetkova Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Vinnitsa.
