Monument Sukhomlinsky

Monument to Vasily Sukhomlinsky in Nikolaev installed at the entrance of Nikolaev National University named after V. Sukhomlinsky.

The monument was built in 1964. The memorial bust erected on a marble pedestal, made in the form of small steps. Behind the famous teacher can see the inscription, which corresponds to the book of his life - "I give my heart to children".

Who is Basil Sukhomlinsky

Basil Sukhomlinsky - known teacher and writer, member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR and Hero of Socialist Labor.

Born in the village Vasilevka Kirovograd region. Vasili Alexandrovich became a teacher in the 17 years. In 1941, war broke out and Vasily Sukhomlinsky in the ranks of volunteers went to the front. At the end of the war he returned to his native land, where he became the director of high school in 1948. In this position, he worked all his life.

During his life, he wrote a number of books and pamphlets on pedagogy, is the author of over 600 articles and 1,200 short stories and fairy tales. He wrote Vasiliy and Ukrainian, and Russian. All copies of the famous teacher`s books amounted to 4 million copies.
