Shaian is a small village in Khust district of Transcarpathian region. The resort is located among Velykyi, Seredniy and Malyi Shaian Mountains, on the banks of the Tisza River, and is considered one of the best Ukrainian spa centres. The main feature of the resort is its mineral water, which is rich in useful macro-and micronutrients. The healing properties of the local springs have been known since ancient times. Drinking Shaian mineral water is recommended for people who suffer different chronic diseases. According to the content of hydrocarbons, the water is similar to Essentuki, Borjomi and Vichy Célestins.
Healing springs, mild climate, clean air and wonderful nature of the Carpathians attract tourists from many countries to the resort. Tourist infrastructure is well developed in Shaian. Sanatoriums, recreation centres, hotels and resorts provide all the facilities and a wide range of services for its visitors. Water treatment can be combined with an active and interesting rest. [In winter, ski season is open here]. Equipment to hire and a ski lift are available. Summer vacation can be diversified by hiking, kayaking, quad biking and excursions. Close to the village there is a large lake with beaches, catamarans and excellent fishing.
The nearest town to the resort – Khust – is about 17 kilometres from Shaian. You can get to the spa centre also by bus from Mukacheve or Uzhhorod.
