National Picture Gallery Ivan Aivazovsky

National Gallery of Ivan Aivazovsky located in Feodosia street Galerejnoj, in the house where lived the famous seascapes.

Gallery building was designed by the artist in 1845. A little later, in 1880, Ivan Aivazovsky added a small room to the house, which was intended specifically to showcase paintings. The first exhibit consisted of forty nine works and was the only one artist museum in the Russian Empire. Many works from the gallery went on all kinds of exhibitions, where due to the incredible popularity of Aivazovsky, did not return. Thus, the collection of pictures constantly updated. In the gallery, on a specially built stage, performed with many well-known cultural figures. Among them were Alexander Spendiarov composer, pianist Anton Rubinstein, actors famous St. Petersburg theaters Konstantin Varlamov and Medea Figner violinist Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

After the artist's death in 1990, building of the gallery together with existing masterpieces was donated to the city, according to the will of a talented painter. In 1922, the National Art Gallery has become a state museum.

Visit this extraordinary place, where it survived the great creative spirit of the creator. To date, the museum collections number about twelve thousand works on the theme of the sea. In addition, the gallery is the world's largest collection of works by Ivan Aivazovsky - four hundred seventeen of his paintings. Visiting the museum, you can see not only the work of Ivan Aivazovsky, but also to explore the history of his family, as well as look at the personal belongings of the artist.

Besides authoring gallery founder, here you can see pictures of other famous artists: Constantine Bogaevskogo, Michael Latri, Maksimelyana Voloshin, Lev Lagorio and others.

The house sisters Ivan Aivazovsky, located in a nearby building, presented his work on biblical and mythological themes, as well as paintings of foreign scapes 18 - 19 centuries and the works of Soviet artists.

Gallery is located at a distance of two hundred meters from the railway station of the city of Feodosia, and nine hundred meters from the central bus station Theodosia. Given the short length of the city, you can reach it on foot from any point on the waterfront of Feodosia.
