Legendary Tachanka Monument
In artificial mound in the midst of the desert near the town stands the mighty Kahovka statuary bronze - "Legendary Tachanka." It covers an area of more than 10 meters, and the weight of the monument is 60 tons. "Legendary Tachanka" was established in 1967.
Once, in the years 1918-1920 occurred in those spaces battles between Whites and soldiers who used strong carts - tavrychanky or carts. With their help, you can apply rapid and unexpected blows to the enemy. And 30 years after the idea of fighting to preserve for posterity the image of the legendary carts. The first work on the future of the monument began in the 50s of last century. Then cast iron model, which is now kept in the museum Kahovka. And soon sculptors Leo Rodionov, Yuri Lohovinin and architect Alexander Poltoratskiy drafted monument.
In order to establish a "legendary carts," had dozens of workers to organize and to rent large trucks. Powerful sculptural group weighing more than 60 tons were taken from separate numbered parts of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Bronze monument erected on a specially poured mound near the former command post of the USSR Marshal Vasily Blucher.
The monument depicts wagons drawn by four horses. Manages her trio Red: driving in a helmet-budonivtsi soldier in coat of arms and flag of warrior with machine gun. Special artistic value of this sculpture is realistic motion passed carts, as if racing desert expanses to victory.
