Palace of Rumyantsev-Transdanubian

Palace of Rumyantsev-Transdanubian

In Chernihiv region, ten kilometers from Korop on the bank of the Desna river is the picturesque village of Cherry. This town and village located near Chereshenka in the 18th century became the name of the Russian Field Marshal Peter Rumyantsev Transdanubia. After the acquisition of the land the new owner began large-scale construction and upgrading of the neighborhood. In Chereshenka he built a church, office, barracks, an aviary, as well as Chinese gazebo. Although these structures are not preserved village of Cherry still surprises tourists with its beautiful palace of Count Rumyantsev Transdanubia.

Building apartments Field Marshal began in 1872 and continued until 1878 under the direction of engineer-designer Maxim Mostsipanova. However the author's name of the project is unknown. There are several versions, one of which was the architect of the building Russian architect Vasily Bazhanov, on the other - a famous Russian architect Giacomo Quarenghi.

The place was chosen for the construction of a small hill above the pond, where the snow-white palace looked impressive. You'll be able to verify this by walking around the building. The shape and style of the palace were quite unusual for buildings, which were built in those years. Palace of Rumyantsev-Transdanubian like a medieval castle, designed in a classic style with elements of Romanticism. It viewed the details inherent in the Gothic style, as well as the eastern architecture. However, the building is completely devoid of monumentality - missing the usual columns and portico. However, the style in which the palace built, characterized by the presence of small exterior decor, such as turrets, battlements, spiers, and wall moldings and sculptural framing. Architect was decided to create a complex structure forms the letter "E", which would have been serving the central part. She stood at the expense of two floors on the background floor of the palace and its two projecting turrets on the sides. From the central part of the building in opposite directions diverged two wings that were rounded interconnected galleries.

Go inside the palace of Count Pyotr Rumyantsev Transdanubia. Some rooms have preserved the unique fragments of paintings and other decorations.

Field Marshal Castle was built specifically for the arrival of Russian Empress Catherine II. Visiting Peter Rumyantsev-Transdanubian also visited a prominent Russian general Alexander Suvorov. Walk through the rooms, which once visited these great men.
