The Svaliava Local History Museum

In the city center, close to Memorial Park, the memory of the victims of Stalin`s regime , is the building of the district administration. The first floor is reserved for a public institution Svalyavskiy District Historical Museum.

The museum exposition occupies two small rooms. The first one is devoted to the history of Svalyava. Archival documents, photographs tell of significant events that occurred with the city. With a history of settlement intertwined lives of local cultural figures, which can also be found in the museum.

The second hall - Ethnography. Conventionally, it is divided into 2 parts. The most interesting textile department, which is replete with embroidered towels and icons.

Interestingly, in the historical museum every visitor can feel like a weaver, creating his own canvas. Especially this opportunity pleases children.

Interior Svaljavsky Historical Museum copies the design of Ukrainian log houses from the early 20th century. In addition to items of needlework, the museum presents the original tools and life of the peasants. It is noteworthy that in the context of all the exhibits can be photographed for free.
