The Red Building of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University

Red University Building knows probably every citizen of Ukraine, as it is a symbol of Ukrainian education. This massive building unusual red color was built in the 19th century. The customer is the Tsar Nicholas I. four-storey building in the classical style was built by the famous architect Giovanni Beretta and Alexander.

University building was designed in the form of a huge square with a closed courtyard. Its architecture is a monumental character. Interestingly, the Beretta did not know which way street will grow, so did presentable both eastern and western side of the building. From the walls of the university were such famous personalities as Mikhail Bulgakov, Lysenko, M. Rila, Drahomanov, M. Sklifosovsky and others.
