The Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine

Museum of Historical Treasures is a small two-story building in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in Kiev. It was opened in 1969 in the former monastery bakery, built on the draft Ukrainian architect Stepan Kovnir.

 

The museum's collection is considered one of the richest countries of Eastern Europe. Its funds are kept works by the masters of jewelery at the earliest stages of the history of Ukraine.

 

Exposure jewelery presented in a museum in three main sections. In the first one you see silver and gold works of art of the 6th century BC - 13th century BC, in the second section of the museum are products of Russian and Ukrainian jewelers 14-19 centuries, the third section is devoted to numismatics and famous artifacts dating back to the 6th century before our AD - 20 century AD.

 

Looking around the museum rarities, pay special attention to the collection of funerary treasures, which is the jewel case Scythian sword made of pure gold and decorated with precious and delicate figures. No less significant sample of ancient jewelry is famous gold pectoral, which is a massive chest ornament depicting scenes of Scythian life and mythology.

 

You are sure to be delighted represented in museum objects from the tomb of Queen Sarmatian. The collection includes ancient Persian, Greek jewelry that has been made in the 1-2 centuries AD. Hit its luxury creations are unique ancient Kiev masters as pendants for temples and diadem, and plechnye bandages found in the village Sakhnovka.

 

In addition, the museum has a great collection of historical jewelry made of silver and gold in the 14-16 centuries. These products are the finest works were brought to Kievan Rus from Byzantium. You can admire the frames and mountings for icons and religious books, decorated with rubies, emeralds, pearls and sapphires. There are also recognized masterpieces of jewelry Ukrainian such famous masters as Moshchenko Ivan, Ivan Ravich and many others.

 
 

In the museum you can see not only on the objects found during excavations on the territory of Ukraine. Its funds are kept of European, Russian and Jewish artists. Given the value and variety of antique exhibits, this museum can rightly be called one of the most exciting in the capital.

 

Get to the museum by bus number 24, it is necessary to go from the metro station to the last stop Arsenal, located near the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
