Church of the Saviour
Church of the Saviour in Poltava - a unique historical and architectural monument, made in ancient style. This is one of the oldest temples of Poltava.
Originally the temple was a side chapel of the Transfiguration Church. The first recorded mention of it in the documents, which date from the end of the XVII century.
In 1704, near the gate of the fortress of Poltava Kurilovskaya Transfiguration church burned down. In the years 1705-1706 the abbot I. Svitaylo using Spark IV erected in its place of wood, with solid oak Savior Church.
For several years the temple had to witness the heroic defense of the fortress of Poltava. In the 30-ies of XX century. This church is closed, the bell tower was dismantled, was also removed and the fence around the house. Reopened in 1945 rots. In 2009 the bell tower was restored Savior Church in its present form and in the same year was consecrated.
