Saviour Church in Pavlohrad

Cathedral of the Savior, the Holy Face is an architectural monument of local importance. History of the appearance of the cathedral is amazing and filled with all sorts of events.

The first stone in the construction of the Cathedral   was founded in 1892, the final construction was completed in 1898 with the active financial support of honorary citizen of Pavlograd Jacob Golubitskoe. Citizens often called the church name of its founder - the church Golubitskoe. The cathedral was built of stone and was a three-altar.

In the early 20th century at the church acted a library, in which the funds were about 307 different books. In 1904, at the Saviour Cathedral school was opened for children. During the October Revolution Church preserved, it remains the only active temple Pavlograd. During the bombings of the Second World War the church was badly damaged. In Soviet times, the cathedral was closed, it was attached to a sports school, and in the temple equipped gym.

In 1991 the cathedral was opened again. During this period, begins its activity   restoration, which lasted until 1995. Soon the church held its first 30 years of service. At the temple`s library, the office, as well as Sunday school. In 2002, the artist finished painting the interior walls of the temple.

Savior Cathedral - the center of spiritual life Pavlograd. He is one of the oldest temples of the city. Since 2005, the Council published its own news newspaper "Herald Pavlograd decorum."
