Palace Mehring

If there was a rating of the most beautiful palaces of Vinnytsia, then Mehring palace, in the village of Stara Pryluka, have occupied the first place. After going through many alterations and change of ownership, it is simultaneously one of the youngest in the palaces.

History Palace Mehring

The first mention of the Old Palace Prylutsi to the late 18th century, when the then owner, Alexander builds an Maciej residence. But very soon the palace is owned by Czeslaw Zdzehovskoho who spends his radical reconstruction. The last owner of the palace - Sergey Mehring blows the third floor, repairs and modification of the facade. Since then, he gets today`s forms.

We should also talk about Sergei Mehring - a man with German and Jewish roots, he managed to take the post of Minister of Trade and Industry for the UPR Hetman Skoropadsky, but soon after the fall Hetmanat resigns. Had an excellent education, studied in England, knew the main European languages.

His father Theodore Mehring was a famous doctor in Kiev, having the large ownership not only in the capital city, but also in many provinces. Incidentally, he bought an estate in Old Prylutsi, which is then received by his son Sergei inherited. On the death of Sergei Mehring little is known - is that he died in 1920, but there is evidence that he was arrested in 1937 and since then it should be lost.

The legend of the treasure Mehring

The name of the last owner and the associated legend concerning the treasures of his family, saying that they are hidden somewhere near the palace. There was a story where the walls was found to be kept rooms with Persian carpets and gold coins. But, unfortunately, all the efforts of local people to find these riches ended in nothing.

Today the palace contains facilities for children with special needs. Its status is poor. Although the building has the status of a national architectural monument, but to repair the orphanage can not. Therefore, the structure is destroyed every year.

What to see in the palace

The palace is wonderful and exquisite example of Baroque style in the palace architecture. From the outside it strongly resembles the Mariinsky Palace in Kiev, but does not copy it. It is nicely decorated with stucco and decorative elements, but, unfortunately, without the restoration are gradually destroyed.

Interiors partially preserved, including the residence hall is amazing eye - it is made in the Moorish style and more like a decoration of palaces of Arab sheiks. The palace can be attributed to those that are certainly worth a visit in Vinnitsa region.
