St Nicholas Church in Vinnytsia

Unique architectural monument Nicholas Church (Church of St. Nicholas) in the winery is located in the historic center of the city. Until the mid-18th century the area and most of the left bank of the Southern Bug is considered the oldest city. Nicholas Church was built during this period, in April 1746. On one of the outer walls of the building can be seen supporting the inscription tells us when and who became the founder of the legendary temple.

This church is one of the few in the Ukraine, which after a few centuries, preserved in its original form. It was created by skilled craftsmen in place of one of the defensive ruined castles. Dozens of talented architects built a beautiful Orthodox church in which traditional architectural features harmoniously intertwined with innovative solutions. For example, the bell tower of the church is built in such a way that it could serve as the tower observation deck in the event of an attack enemy troops on the ground Vinnitsa. And encircling veranda with arches is both the foundation of excellent protection against water and safe canopy for parishioners. This architecture is recognized as the hallmark of the temple.

Unfortunately, over the past 100 years, inner beauty of the building suffered the most. Before 1970, it was located museum. Now there are continuing restoration restoration work.
