St Nicholas Church, Vyzhniany

The greatness of this temple is not spoiled even indifference. History of creation

Church in Vyzhnyanah built in the 15th century. Even then, the faithful came to him to ask for mercy from the Lord. In the 17th century, the temple has suffered because of the battle between the Cossacks and Tatars. Therefore, it was restored and rebuilt several times.

The frescoes, which can now be seen in the church, appeared in 1942-43, at the height of World War II. Therefore, the master, who painted the temple, worked only for food. At the same time he appeared on the facade of the church of St. Joseph monument.

In Soviet times, the church served as a warehouse. A significant portion of the metal structures plundered. Such a fate befell the body. Now he abandoned church. And local community leaves no hope to recover it.

What to see in the church of St. Nicholas

From the temple a lot of things were removed, however, it left something to make that impossible - murals depicting the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Time has left an imprint on them, but they are still crisp and vivid. They created their masters under the direction of Lviv artist Stanislaw Teyseyre.

How to get to the church of St. Nicholas

Own transport to the village, you can drive on the highway Lviv - Ternopil. In Kurovichah - turn right (if you are heading from the city), which will lead you to the village Vyzhnyany.

Public transport. From Lviv on Lychakiv station leaves every 15 minutes on the bus Zolochev. You should go to the village Kurovichi, of it - 3-4 km to Vyzhnyan.

Directly to Vyzhnyanam can be reached by bus Lviv - clay. But this flight runs much less.
