Museum of History and Local Lore, Borislav
History Prykarpattia knows a lot of difficulties and joys. A local nature is so beautiful and unique that it finds expression in the works of the world`s best writers and artists. Borislav Museum was founded at the initiative of the local ethnographer Nikolai Kryzhanovsky. The museum building has a sad story. It is in its walls during the formation of the Soviet regime was located department of the NKVD. There were shot in the basement of those who did not want to obey the iron claw of communism.
Now the museum has about 5,000 exhibits. The exhibits introduce visitors to different areas of the region`s history. For example, in the natural section you can see all kinds of minerals, a variety of flora and fauna of the Carpathian region. Among the exhibits are quite rare and interesting items. Here are just a few of them: one-piece wooden barrel, silver antique hryvnia, a fragment of ancient Russian bracelet, fire pump of the 19th century, and many others. Special value has a picture of the German artist R. Volkelya "Old Borislav", which depicts the city in 1918. The museum is open from 11:00 to 17:00, except Saturdays and Sundays.
