Bilevych Pyramid Tomb

Bilevych Pyramid Tomb

There are a lot of pyramids in the world, one of them is located in Ukraine. Very real pyramid-tomb can be found by you in a small village of Poltava region. It has been situated here for over 130 years.

The creator of the 15-metre high pyramid was an officer of the Russian fleet Alexander Bilevich. Having been in Egypt, he was so impressed with the grandeur of the pyramids built by the pharaohs that he decided to build a pyramid in Poltava region.

It took 13 years to build the pyramid. Blocks made of granite were put together in a special way – by adding animal blood and egg white to sand and limestone solution. Church created next to the three-tiered pyramid was named in honour of the wife of the Russian officer – Sofia.

After the death of the couple, they were buried in the basement, in the tomb. But in Soviet times, the locals, who believed that countless treasures had been hidden in the pyramid, unearthed the tombs. The iconostasis was destroyed and tunnels of the Poltava pyramid were used for the storage of pesticides. People say that everyone who participated in the looting of the church did not live long and died.

Today, the pyramid-tomb is a religious place. The temple is located on the first floor; the second floor is occupied by the belfry. People go to this place to be healed. They believe, if to stand in the centre of the pyramid for 15 minutes, the body will be full of energy and all the troubles will go away.

Komendantivka is located 57 km from the regional centre Kobeliaky.
