Church of the Holy Spirit (Potelich)

One of the most popular local attractions is the Church of the Holy Spirit, built by potters in 1502 on the site of the old church of Boris and Gleb. The temple is a wooden structure with a height of over 18 meters. The church has two domes and consists of a central square log home, with the northern and southern sides of which are small niches. Western and southern doors wrought-iron hinges, made by master craftsmen.

The interior of the church is characterized by open space of the central hall, the upper part of which is made in the form of a tent. In the 17th century the temple established a new two-tier iconostasis. In 1683, the decoration of the church was supplemented icon "Deisus" written by a famous artist Ivan Rutkovych. Next to the church is a wooden square bell tower, which is the same as the main building consists of two tiers. The size of the bell tower is about four meters in width and the same in length. In 1736 the bell tower was renovated Casimir Dominikovich, and the last of its restoration was carried out in 1970.

In ancient times, when the church in storage were seven guns, so in the event of danger, all the local people took refuge in the temple. Until now of the whole defensive system survived only two watchtowers, located on the church courtyard.

Considering the decoration of the Church of the Holy Spirit, pay attention to the monumental painting her walls. These artistic creations date back to 1620-1640 years. Unique murals are integral work adorning the walls of the temple. In 1970-1972 by architects Bogdan Kindzelskim and Ivan Mogitichem whole church was renovated and restored to its ensemble unique wall paintings.
