Church of St. Paraskeva, Drohobych

Church of St. Paraskeva - is the only log churches Drohobych. It is situated a few steps from the main attractions of the city - the church of St. George .

In the early 18th century, most of the temples were built on the site of the once destroyed. Paraskeva Church is no exception. From the 15th to the 18th century on the site of the present temple was an ordinary village chapel. A huge fire destroyed the little church down. But the holy place is never empty, and in 1855 it took the magnificent temple of Agia Paraskevi.

It is noteworthy that novovozvedennaya shrine became a masterpiece of Ukrainian folk architecture. One-story three-nave building, built on technology "without a single nail," and today is considered one of the most beautiful temples of the country.

It is surprising that in its 200-year history of the Church of St. Paraskeva not undergone extensive renovation. This will keep the authentic look and the original decoration of the temple.

For 30 years - from 1960 to 1990 - the church did not fulfill their religious functions. Fortunately, the old building was closed and did not become a warehouse. Such a move would allow the Soviet authorities to protect against destruction of the church iconostasis and icons that adorn the building today.

Can see them any visitor. The temple doors open at any time of the day.
