Church of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow"
Church of the Mother of God "All the Afflicted" acts on the basis of a complex of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra . It is located on the second floor of the hospital at the monastery in the building №68.
The history of the construction of the temple
Construction of the temple was done in several stages since the late 19th century. In the period from 1849 to 1851 built a two-storey building, on the second floor which opened the hospital. After 15 years, the eastern two-storey wing was added, in which the temple was opened. Construction was completed in 1866. After 2 years there was a wooden iconostasis. In the northern part of the cathedral was placed a wooden ark with the holy Laramie, where patients received communion.
During the Soviet period the church was severely damaged. The interior has been lost, destroyed many ancient shrines.
Temple today
Temple returned to the monastery only in 2003. Force superiors and faithful restoration work was carried out. The temple is completely regenerated, returned to its former beauty of the inner walls of the cathedral, restored dome. In 2007, one of the Archbishop of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra consecrated the church. At the end there was held the first liturgy.
Prayers in the church committed on a daily basis at 13:00, and are often held evening services.
