Art Memorial Museum Leopold Levitsky

Leopold Levitsky - a significant figure in the art world, whose work has had a significant influence on the development of the Lviv painting. Being a talented graphic artist and painter of the 20th century, he also co-founded the famous Polish avant-garde association - "Krakow Group", which has played a significant role in the development of art in Poland.

Levitsky Leopold Museum, founded in April 1984, is located in the former home of the artist, where he lived and worked from 1946 to 1973. The exposition is located in three rooms of the apartment. Here fully recreated the unique atmosphere that inspired Leopold Levitsky creativity. In this house frequent guests were famous Lviv artists, as well as the novice creators who became disciples of the greatest masters of his time.

Going from room to room of the museum, you can read all the biography of the artist. It should be said that the memorial museum of Leopold Levitsky has the largest collection of works, and it`s all thanks to his wife, who carefully preserved the legacy of her husband. It collected about 500 pieces: works of all creative periods of the artist, made in different styles and genres, furniture, personal belongings Leopold Levitsky and more. All this collection is invaluable to the city Lviv and allows acquainted with the work and personality of the artist.
