Krut Heroes Memorial

Kruty Heroes Memorial is dedicated to the Battle of steep, held on 29 January 1918. On this day, near the village of Kruty took a 5-hour battle between the 4000th Army Bolshevik and 400 of the Kiev students and fighters free Cossacks. It was truly a heroic battle, during which the Ukrainians have shown their patriotism and strong-willed character. Putting their lives, students 4 days could hold many thousands of troops of the Bolsheviks, allowing the Ukrainian delegation to sign the Brest-Litovsk peace treaty.

The memorial complex consists of a monument to the Battle of cool, symbolic grave-mound, the lake in the form of a cross and a chapel. On the hill height of about 7 meters is a monument in the form of a red column. Its height - 10 meters. These columns are part of the architectural ensemble of the red building of the Kiev University . Most of the students who participated in the battle of cool, studied in this institution, so muralist Anatoly Gaydamaga made this artistic decision. In 2006, a memorial was opened with the participation of President Viktor Yushchenko.

A few years later a memorial complex was complemented by an open railway platform military echelon and seven old cars. They placed a museum exhibit dedicated to the events of January 29, 1918.
