Dovzhansky Castle
Dovzhansky castle is located in the village of Long Irshava district in the Carpathian region. He stands in the picturesque river valley Borzhava. According to the version of some scholars, the castle was built in 13-14 century, but written information about it has survived. Most likely, it was originally built of wood and stone.
In the 15th century on the site of the initial building was erected a stone castle, which did not last long. Only in the early 18th century the castle again restored Earl L. Teleki. These lands were presented to him Hungarian king in gratitude for the fight against the rebels. Graf made the castle a summer residence, which was a one-story building with defensive walls around. Inside the palace was a beautiful park. Many years Dovzhansky castle served as the summer residence and hunting lodge. This came on the hunt European know.
Since 1954 there have placed sanatorium, which exists until today. The castle itself is well preserved, survived its main buildings: the walls, towers, accommodation, but needs restoration.
