Castle in the village Rakovets

Many castles have a tragic history. Rakovetsky castle is one of those. Construction of the castle began in the mid-17th century. The castle belonged to Wojciech Bienevskomu. The building was completed in 1660, during which the castle already experienced the siege of the Cossack troops. On the approach to the castle was a ditch, which ran through the bridge. Entrance to the building was designed as a two-storey gate with semicircular arches. Lock design was complex and sophisticated. In the western part of the living quarters were located in the northern part there was a chapel. The west wing was reserved for the barracks. Proudly over the castle towered hexagonal tower with huge pivnitsami.

The castle has always served a huge defensive function. In 1672 and 1679 the castle goes through a series of raids of Turkish troops. As a result of these attacks the castle in ruins. Later he went on to play a significant role in the history of local battles. In the 18th century this place was used as the crossing of the Dniester. In the surviving buildings of the castle were stored supplies and ammunition. In 1768, the fortress covered a large fire which destroyed all traces of the former might.

In the following years in the castle was opened soda factory, but it suffered the same sad fate. All that could still be used, carried off by the locals.
