Holy Transfiguration Church, Shumskoye

With all the variety of Ukrainian churches and temples belonging to different religions, highlights the Transfiguration Church in Shumsky . This temple is not only undergone many changes in appearance, but also several times from one denomination to another. Transfiguration Church made in the Gothic-Renaissance style.

The church was built in 1637 and was originally the Basilian (Uniate). Founder of the monastery became governor Malin, who bequeathed to preserve and renew the temple. Testament was not fulfilled. In 1676 one of the heirs of the governors goes to the Catholic faith, and transmits the Franciscan monastery as a generous gift. Even after 30 years, grandson of the late Malin reconstructs the church and sanctifies the church as the new name of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. A little later in the bell tower of the church appears in the Baroque style. Since 1837 the church n ereshla the hands of Orthodox Christians.
