Shevchenko Alley Sculpture Park
The initiative to create a sculpture park "Shevchenko`s Alley" belongs to the third President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. In May 2007, during a visit to the grave of Taras Shevchenko, the then President expressed his vision of the decoration of the road leading from the Assumption Cathedral to Shevchenko`s National Wildlife Refuge .
On the creation of sculptures dedicated to the literary character of the great Ukrainian poet, worked nineteen local artists. The process of hewn blocks of sandstone and limestone - the materials from which made the figures, held under the open sky and lasted more than a month.
To abandon the idea to create a work place along the path from the Assumption Cathedral to Chernecha mountains, according to the latest route Bard decided at the insistence of sculptors. They want their creations remained standing in one place. Thus, it was decided to install them at the foot of the mountain Tarasova .
