Church Muchenitsy Queen Alexandra

Elegant small temple, located between the housing and the University Maritime College, catches the eye of passers-by. The building appeared in the late 19th century. His "highlight" was mirrored dome remarkably fine work. Unfortunately, up to now they have not survived: they defeated the Soviet era. The building was given to the teacher`s college. However, in the interior remained beautiful stucco and marble Kyoto.

Church was able to return this old building in 1992. Now it belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kiev Patriarchate. Home relic, which is stored in the walls of the temple - old Feodorevskaya icon of the Mother of God, written in the 14th century. Her Orthodox community presented the Ukrainian diaspora in the UK.

As before, the church bears the name of the Holy Martyr Tsarina Alexandra. Wife of Emperor Diocletian was a secret Christian. When my husband found out about it, ordered the execution of Alexander. Holy humbly accepted the verdict and went to the place of execution, but quietly died on the way.
