Theatre Square, Rivne
Theatre Square in Rivne is one of two main squares in the city (including Independence Square ). During World War II street of the Cathedral, which is now located Theatre Square, was destroyed.
History and Monuments Theatre Square
At the time of the German occupation of the capital city of Rivne chosen Reichskommissariat Ukraine. In the area of the Nazis staged executions show Ukrainian nationalists. Later in the same place Ukrainian patriots were executed by the Bolsheviks.
In 1945 the square a monument to Joseph Stalin that New Year`s Eve from 1946 to 1947 released into the air Ukrainian insurgents. But the morning there stood another monument that was moved from the Bolsheviks Officers.
In 1960, at Theater Square completed construction of Rivne Music and Drama . At the same time built three four-story buildings around the square.
Already in 2004 at Theater Square installed monument to the writer Ulas Samchuk .
In 2010 the area was reconstructed and opened underground shopping mall "Theatre."
Opposite the theater is public transport and building, which housed the years 1941-1943 edition of the newspaper "Volyn" where Helen worked Teliha and Ulas Samchuk.
On the right side of the Drama is the hotel "Ukraine" .
How to get to the area
Theater Square in the heart level, between Hetman Sagaidachnogo streets and the Cathedral. Reach it easily from anywhere in the city.
