Monument Klim Savur in Rivne established October 14, 2002 the day of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The authors of the monument made by sculptor V. Sholudko architects T. Melnychuk and V. Kovalchuk. Ordered monument Klim Savur Ukrainian People`s Party and the Ukrainian Cossacks "Volyn January."

Inauguration of the monument dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the UPA. The place for the monument also elected not by accident - the walls of the former NKVD prison of Rivne.

Klim Savur: historical background

Real name Klim Savur - Dmitry Klyachkivskyy. He was born in Zbarazh , that in Ternopil region. Young man he joined the UNO. He graduated from the Law Faculty of Lviv University . From 1932 to 1934 he served in the Polish army shooter.

Klim Savur was against the so-called Sovietization of Ukraine. After the sudden death of the OUN leader in Volyn Vladimir Robitnytskoho Klim Savur is the OUN leader in the north-western Ukrainian lands.

In 1942, the unit became known as OUN Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which makes the transition from underground to open hostilities.

In December 1945, the commander of the UPA Klim Savur and some his colleagues were killed in the natural Lisnychivka, near Suska . The bodies of the soldiers were put up on the square near Rivne prison. This is done to intimidate citizens and show what happens to those who go against the Soviet system.

To monuments often bring flowers and wreaths to pay homage to the rebels.

Where is the monument

Klim Savur monument stands in the center of Rivne outside the Cathedral 16. Alongside there are recreation park named after Taras Shevchenko and St. Basil`s Cathedral . Near the monument is public transport "Co-operative College."
