Ascension Cathedral, Swan
The small town of Swan in the Sumy region made famous by staying here for many well-known personalities: Shevchenko, Skovoroda, P. Gulak-Artyomovsk, G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko. One of the main attractions is the Ascension Cathedral.
In 1692 on the site of the temple there was a wooden church, bearing the name of the Ascension. By reason of dilapidation the building was demolished. Despite the fact that in the city there were other religious buildings, in 1858 built a new Ascension Cathedral. It was made of stone. Architecture buildings skillfully combines features of classicism and baroque. Chetyrehstolpny temple is in the shape of a cube with a semicircular projection. The bell tower is located above the entrance. White stone building with blue elements together with the adjacent to the church inked area combine perfectly with the area. As such, the church has survived to the present day.
