Nicholas Church, Swan

Church of St. Nicholas in   Swan combines the best features of two styles - Renaissance and Byzantine, creating a special "brick" style. This style became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the territory of Ukraine. Construction Nicholas Church was completed in 1890. Architect V. Nemkin generously endowed wall arches, cornices and other artsy decor.   The temple is in the shape of a cross and crowned with a dome.   In the old days when the church is a school.

What is surprising is that the temple was originally built from stab boards, not sawn. After his lined with brick, but still in some places can be seen contours of the wooden walls.   Especially proud of the temple became bell made in 1660. Another   ancient and amazing thing is kept in the church - an icon of St. Nicholas, brought the first settlers. Image and silver robe is so dilapidated that they had to restore. After the restoration of historical monuments of the data can be seen in the walls of St. Nicholas Church.
