Svyatoduhovskaya monastery Putyvl

In Putivle there were 24 churches and 4 monasteries located at the corners of the city. Only one of the monasteries was female. Before survived only two monks of the monastery.
In the 16th century the city was built Putivle Svyatodukhovsky Nunnery. Initially, it was made of wood and gradually fell into decay until Tsar Peter I the greatest decree not ordered to build a stone church. He is hiding behind its stone walls and includes Transfiguration Cathedral and Holy Cross church bell tower. The style of construction meets the native Russian and echoes the shapes and elegant lines with Molchansky abode .
Remarkable monastery by the fact that it concluded after the suppression of a riot musketeers, Princess Sophia, sister of Peter I. The interior of the monastery is superb, as should the Orthodox church, and complements its rich iconostasis. Monastery full of ancient icons, and preserved the cell reminiscent of the ascetic life of the nuns. Monastic cloister gradually acquired modern features and only at the beginning of the 19th century was first substantially reconstructed. In modern times the church was restored in 2006.
