State Museum of Nature Kharkiv National University. Basil Karazin

One of the oldest museums in Europe - the Museum of Nature Kharkov National University VN Karazin. At the time for the museum Count S. Potocki bought from the pharmacist Gruner zoological collection of foreign objects collected by Professor André, and in 1807 - Italian Chetty zoological collection, which is collected from a variety of animals, mollusk shells, coral, birds, insects and minerals and natural instruments. Collections received in Kharkov April 2, 1807. This date is considered the founding of the museum.

Exhibit Museum of Nature in Kharkov

Four Department of scientific exposition is located in 23 halls of the museum: the geological department of invertebrates and vertebrates, the evolution of the organic world and the protection of nature. The exhibits in the museum are not only in the form of systematic collection, but also in the form biogroups and fascinating dioramas, equipped with audiovisual equipment. More than 250 thousand exhibits from around the world account for scientific funds of the museum. Currently, Kharkov Museum of Nature is one of the largest research and education and training centers of Ukraine.

The museum is open every day (except Sunday) from 8:30 to 16:30 by appointment. Tours are conducted in Ukrainian, Russian and English languages ​​on 16 topics.
