Fire Tower (Fire Service Museum), Zhitomir

Fire Tower is located in Zhytomyr . Built it in 1894 on the initiative of city officials.   Even today, the tower is in operation, and at the same time   is an architectural monument of local importance.

In the late 19th century because of frequent fires in the city and losses on them, local authorities began making desperate attempts to improve the situation. The first fire brigade in the city began its work in the 70s. Its population numbered only 50 people.

In the museum you can read the history of fire suppression systems and fire fighting equipment. In the museum visitors through the projector show educational films about the causes and fighting fires.
