Cossack grave
A monument in honor of haidamak uprising in 1768 "Cossack Grave" is set in the village of Kodnya Zhytomyr region. This monument erected in memory of the participants Koliyivshchyna who opposed the religious oppression of the Orthodox population of the Polish gentry on Right-Bank Ukraine.
The reason for the revolt was the burning of the church leader, known in that area. He was executed in public. The revolt led by Ivan Gonta and M. Zhelezniak. First, there were scattered groups, which consisted of Zaporozhye Cossacks and ordinary people. They fought with the Poles. When the Poles have begun to complain about the constant raids by Haidamaks, they came to help Catherine II. Together with the Polish troops suppressed the uprising they Haidamaks. Catherine have halted attacks on the nobility of the Cossacks, but the rebels are not strictly judged. If they are able to prove guilt, they waited just a link. As for justice took the Poles, everything became much worse. Guilty could be anyone who was familiar even to the participants of the uprising. Cossacks and ordinary people caught and executed anywhere on the territory of the Commonwealth. The worst violence occurred, and many in the village of Conde. After 200 years on the site of mass executions was the obelisk of memory and grief over the fallen heroes Koliyivshchyna. Around him the ring planted trees that give this monument of grandeur and importance of the element. The monument can be found at the turn of the village Andrushevka , there is a sign stating "Cossack`s grave."
