Seaside Assumption Monastery

Seaside Assumption Monastery is one of the religious sites of Ukraine. It is located in the Zaporozhye region in the village of Primorsk on the banks of the Kakhovka reservoir. Now it is calm and majestic, large and bright church of St. Nicholas and a monastery in honor of the Assumption of Mary (Holy Assumption nunnery). There are shrines that attract the attention of pilgrims, historians and tourists.

History of Primorsky Assumption Monastery

The official calendar is the temple since 1805. He remained in force in revolutionary and wartime. But in 1960 the church was closed, and in his room organized warehouse. The bell tower was destroyed. Believers managed to keep the icons in their homes, but many ancient church plate were removed. And only in 1986 the restoration of the church with preserving your own style. In the spring of 1989 it was celebrated the first liturgy. In 2000, its territory was built female monastic enclosure.

Relevance to the temple is from the ministry of John of Kronstadt, who was later canonized in the face of righteous Russian Orthodox Church (Saint John of Kronstadt).

What to see in the Primorsky Assumption Monastery

The main shrine of the temple is a reliquary. It kept the relics of saints and fifty. Religious people come to pray and ask them to health and healing from disease.

The church kept the old icons dating back 200-300 years. One of the holiest sites - the icon "The Descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost", written in the 17th century. There are woven on the carpet icon of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, which was the first Russian abbess.

On the shelves in the temple are ancient religious books with yellowed pages and handwritten text that are of interest to historians.
