St. Elisabeth convent Kamyshevakha

Along with well-known religious buildings, which carries the historical and architectural value, is in the small towns and villages in terms of architecture inconspicuous church buildings. But for the locals these religious monastery obtained center of spiritual life. That is the St. Elisabeth Convent. It was founded in 1998, some time later he was transferred to the village Kamyshevakha Orekhov district. The monastery held services here to help those who suffer, taught love of neighbor.

The history of St Elisabeth Convent

He was named in honor of the Grand Duchess Elizabeth merciful. German Princess Elizabeth became the wife of Prince Sergei Alexandrovich Romanov. She learned Russian, accepted Orthodoxy, many involved in charity work.

Martha and Mary Convent Elizabeth Fyodorovna opened after the tragic death of her husband, and a year later was appointed superior of it. As nuns, she continued to help street children, organized in the monastery free dining room, pharmacy and hospital for the needy. The people respectfully called her mother. All these years with her was the nun Varvara.

During the October Revolution, Elizabeth Feodorovna died tragically. In 1992, the Martyr Elizabeth and nun Barbara were canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The St Elisabeth Convent established and sanctified by the ruling bishop of the church of locally two icons of the Blessed Virgin "Vsetsaritsa" and Holy Martyrs Elizaveta and Varvara. These icons and reliquary with the relics of the saints are the shrines of the monastery. Pilgrims faith turn to them for healing ailments.
