The monument to Nikolai Gogol is located near the city school number 12 in Zaporozhye. The school also was named Gogol. The monument was unveiled in 2010. Its creator and sculptor was a famous master and Professor of the Moscow Art Institute I. Cherapkin. It is also actively involved in its creation took the workers of the plant "Motor Sich". The monument has the form of a bust, which stands on a high pedestal.

Nikolai Gogol was born in 1809 in the Poltava province. After 10 years, his family moved to St. Petersburg. Then he begins his career. In February 1852 Nikolai Gogol decides to burn all the manuscripts of unfinished works, after which the world will never know about them. Then he refuses to eat and February 21, 1852 he died.
