Friendship Monument, Zaporozhye

Monument "Friendship" (better known as "The Fountain of Pioneers") is located in the city of Zaporozhye. It was built back in the park pioneers in 1950, then had two tiers. Monument, he became only later, and initially it was a beautiful fountain. Now it does not work, the sculpture itself partly damaged.

The history of the monument "Friendship"

As already mentioned, it built in the 50s. Prior to that, in its place stood a variety of shops and a shopping arcade. When the war started, everything here has been destroyed, respectively, and stores too. In 1953-1954 years in the city were carried out reconstruction work. Historians believe that it was then, and had erected a monument "Friendship". No exact data on the date of its establishment, or of the works themselves did not survive.

Already in 2000 near the monument began to build the biggest church in the Zaporozhye region - St. Basil`s Cathedral. Then we began to talk about the demolition of the fountain. Opinions were divided local residents, and the monument remained intact. In 2005, he tried to put in order with the help of cosmetic repairs, but no positive changes is never allowed. Now the monument "Friendship", as before, standing in the same place, but some of its parts have already lost the original appearance, although many people still remember how that worked and gave the fountain cool.

Monument "Friendship" is located on the main avenue. It is easy to find, as the park is close to the Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral. Around Gorky Street and Cathedral Square.
