Monument to the pilots of the 17th Air Army
Monument to the pilots of the 17th Air Army erected in honor of fallen soldiers heroically participated in the battles for the liberation of Dnepropetrovsk in 1943. It was designed by the architect put VS and inaugurated by the next anniversary of the Great Victory in 1975.
It is important to note that next to the MiG-19 (military model aircraft) is a plaque with the full list of names of all the victims. The pilots have served in the 17th Air Army, and were buried on the left bank of the Dnieper in a mass grave. Today, it is equipped a large urban area residential area of Sunny.
Military Merit
Air Force has come a long way of liberation, the most important part in combat operations. Originally, it was formed specifically for the South-Eastern Front, where today are the boundaries of modern Ukraine. The pilots of the 17th Army flew more than 500 sorties, which often ends with the death of heroes. The most outstanding victory after pilots were fighting for Stalingrad, Donbass basin, participated in the battles of Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and other cities of the USSR.
After the collapse of the USSR 17th Air Army was transferred to Ukraine, based in Kiev region.

Nearby there are several monuments of World War II. Most common grave on the left bank was established there after surgery forcing in October 1943. You can also look at the monument to the outstanding pilot Brandys , who was a native of Dnepropetrovsk and a heroic pilot, passed through all the Great Patriotic War. His bronze bust installed along the avenue named after the newspaper "Pravda".
