Sklifosovsky Monument, Poltava
Sklifosovsky Monument in Poltava is located in the Poltava Hospital. For many years the life of the famous surgeon, scientist, public figure and a man with an exceptionally deep knowledge associated with the city. Even his grave is in Poltava, although only some local know its location.

The doctor who no one refused to help, professor of the university clinic in Moscow and Medical-Surgical Academy in St. Petersburg has great merits before mankind. He is one of those who stood at the beginnings antiseptic, aseptic and abdominal surgery.
Being in Poltava, the doctor performed the most difficult operations in the provincial hospital, what saved the lives of many residents. In summer 1871, he regularly spent time at his estate. In 1887, on their own savings he founded a school in Yakivtsi.
Later, in 1900, the doctor moved to Poltava for permanent residence. After 4 years of outstanding surgeon died and was buried in Poltava.
In 1914, his wife and daughter were shot surgeon, and plundered the estate. Locals survivors pulled way home. Thus, a local photographer Babenko were some things surgeon:

- inkstand;
- cutlery;
- Sklifosovsky scalpel.
Later scalpel was transferred to the local medical institute, where they began to prepare a small exposure memory physician.
By the 75th anniversary of the death of Sklifosovsky, May 25, 1979, in Poltava a monument to him. It is installed in the square in front of the central entrance to the regional hospital named in his honor. On the granite pedestal height of 2.4 meters - granite bust surgeon height of 1.6 meters. It is seen the inscription: "From the surgeons of Soviet Ukraine Poltava and noble." The designer was a sculptor M. Chernitsky.
