The fountain on the square Rudnev

Kharkiv boasts throughout the Ukraine a lot of wonderful fountains. One of them, located on Heroes` Square of Heavenly Hundreds , - the second largest after the "Mirror stream" .

The history of the fountain

Heroes` Square of Heavenly Hundreds located on the site of the former ramparts. In the 18th century in its place was the central entrance to the city, and it was called St. Michael`s (named after St. Michael`s Church, situated close). Prior to April 2015 was named Rudnev today within decommunisation renamed Heroes` Square of Heavenly hundreds.

The hoard of gold coins

At the site of the park and the fountain used to be a dilapidated old mansion. At its demolition it was discovered a treasure of gold coins that could not conceal the builders. On this money was divided Square, built a fountain and a monument Rudnev - a legend in the tradition of stories of Ilf and Petrov.

Behind the monument on the central avenue was built swimming pool with a fountain. Previously, from the fountain beat 25 jets - the number of years lived by a revolutionary.

Restoration

The first restoration of the fountain was made in 1947. After the war, the city was in ruins. Restored fountain very pleased citizens, and added them to faith in a brighter future. After the collapse of the Soviet Union Square, as well as a fountain, it was long abandoned and forgotten about until 2008, when the City Day overhaul of tracks was made, garden benches and lighting and restoration of the fountain itself.
