Radomysl paper mill
Radomyshlsky paper mill is located in the city Radomyshl, Zhytomyr region. It was created as a company that is engaged in manufacturing of paper topographic needs Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Radomyshlsky paper mill - the first time in the factory of this kind in Central Ukraine - built back in 1612, its founder, was Elisha Pletnetsky. There she was always under a certain pressure from the government of the Commonwealth, and the situation changed only after the death of the Polish king in 1632.
The factory was a great success and has become a monopolist in the market of paper in the central part of Ukraine. This paper was used for printing of various publications. Samu paper made from nettle, flax and hemp. It featured a light gray color and high durability. I had four watermarks on which it was not difficult to find among others. In this paper were printed one of the first and most famous books in Ukraine, among them the "Book of Hours" and others.
Over time near the factory there is a small settlement, which develops into the village. His so-called "Papirnya" it existed before the 60s of the 20th century, and then it was annexed to the city Radomyshl. The factory worked invited German experts, they founded the city "German Quarter", which lasted until the 40s of the 20th century. How long existed papirnya - no one knows, it is known only that it destroyed during the uprising Khmelnytsky. After its destruction produced amount of paper will suffice for several decades.
In October 2009, Radomyshl in place papirni erected a monument to Elisha, carpentry, it is also unique in that it is the only monument in the country on a moving water.
