Church of the Intercession, Dubechnia
Holy Protection Church in the village Dubechnia - a unique architectural monument, a long history and past periods of litigation of various religious faiths. A beautiful example of architectural art, not only managed to survive in the years of wars and revolutions, but retained all the charm of magnificent facades and precious inner painting.
The church is a classic version of the Western Ukrainian architecture with a symmetrical shape, five baths and traditional dome eaves. Surrounding the temple at the head of a spacious courtyard with arched gates and wicket.
The history of the Church of Intercession
Temple Dubechnia shrouded in centuries of difficult history. The first mention of the existence of the church relate to the 16th century. Data on small buildings are in archival documents, which were later confirmed in the excavations found. The church was flooded and was on the site of the present village pond. There`s also a few hundred years of its episodes were found. In 1762, on the funds collected Dubechnia parishioners built a new wooden church, consecrated by the Greek-Catholic diocese. Then came the difficult period of divisions of land between the Polish landowners and local residents (area repeatedly passed from hand to hand to the new government). Finally, the desire of parishioners were defined in 1900 - they announced the intention to build a new temple of the Holy Virgin with the sermon of Orthodoxy. In 1902, construction was completed and now guests can watch it in its original form.
Despite struggling with religious culture, power, came to the village during the 1940s, allows the ministry in the church, which continues to this day. In 1990, major repairs and restoration work.
What to see in the Church of the Intercession
The main pearl of the architectural monument is the proportionality of the exterior form. The temple has an impressive size when compared with the majority of village churches. The interior also retains a touch of luxury and wealth. High arches emphasize the good surviving paintings and updated after the restoration of the iconostasis.
