Holodomor victims, "the angel cries"

On the streets of the 1st of May in a small park on Putyatino Square in Zhitomir is a monument to the victims of Holodomor "Angel crying."

Holodomor of 1932-1933 has not bypassed Zhitomir. Many have fallen victims. By the 15th anniversary of Ukraine`s independence the city authorities decided to coincide with the opening of the monument "Angel crying." The author established in August 2006, the sculpture became O. Kostiuk and architect - AP Perevoznic.

The monument depicts a white figure of an angel in full growth, covered his face with his hands. The whole look of the angel grieves and cries. High statue is mounted on a pedestal in the form of a hemisphere. At the foot of the figure is seen the inscription: "Blessed memory of Holodomor victims."

Zhitomir is famous for its monuments to outstanding people. Immortalized in stone Pushkin and Queens, Shevchenko and Dombrowski. Of interest is the fountain in the form of a stage located on the boulevard, and the longest suspension bridge.
