Bernardine, Gvozdets
Bernardine Monastery - Baroque magnificent building in the village Gvozdets. Its construction accounted for 17 Century. The monastery is composed of a church, cells, Gate Baroque bell tower.
The history of the construction of the monastery
The parish has been known since the late 15th century. In 1475 the church became the founder of the first resident of the village - Jan Prokopovich. Parish Gvozdets was updated in 1710. The new phase of the founder became Prince Michael Puzin, which since 1715 with the permission of the Latin Archbishop of Lviv founded the wooden residence - monastery of Bernardine. It started construction in 1721, and since 1725 the church has acted. In 1728, a wooden church and a monastery damaged by fire. In 1729, it decided to build a stone church, collected the necessary money. Construction continued for several years with interruptions. 1736 - Creation of the altar of St. Anthony, in 1739 was established the foundation for the main altar of the church, who get rich and the rules of painting works Zhurakhovskii. In 1759, we put the statue of St. John of Dukla.
For years, the monastery suffered fires and destruction. Repair and restoration work carried out in 1838 and 1880. Until 1892 we set new made altars.
After 1945, when the land passed into the Soviet Union, the church was used for storing cement, a warehouse, and then by elevator. Later, the room given to a local hospital. Over time, the hospital moved to another location and placed there the music school and the local library. In 1992, the church of St. Anthony of subordinated Stanislavsky dean. Active work is underway to preserve monuments.

Today the church is built of stone, plastered with a small transept. The western facade is decorated with two towers on the roofs of three tiers with the Baroque. The main portal is decorated with double Corinthian columns. The interior is kept remains of sculpture and murals.
The monastery survived and bell tower, built in stone in 1899, preserving the character of the Baroque. It has two levels with two entrances. The top of the bell tower is decorated with an image of the Virgin and sculptures of angels. There are statements about the establishment of a body at the end of the 18th century. The new body was the church in 1896, which created the master Alexander Lvov Zebrowski.

Bernardine Monastery was built in the small town of Gvozdets, Kolomyia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Through the town runs the rail route Kiev - Rachel. The monastery is located on Taras Shevchenko Street, a short walk from the train station.
