Elias Church, Stone-Kashira
Kamen-Kashirskiy, which is the regional center, the 18th century was a wooden church. Temple of St. Elias was an architectural monument of national importance. In 2015, the 315-year-old church burned. We managed to save only some of the icons, church utensils, vestry.
History Elias Church in Kamen-Kashirskiy
The church was built in 1700 on the money of local parishioners. Around one less than a mile from the church was a cemetery. A year later, the church was ordained and began to carry the name of St. Elijah. Like many churches in those days, Elijah church was built of wood, but on a stone foundation and had a dome. In the years 1883-1885 on the north side near the temple was the estate of the landowner, the southern, south-western and eastern sides were Jewish homes.
In the same period Elias Church has undergone major repairs, but due to the state, and built a bell tower, which was placed 5 bells. One of the main features of the Elias Church was that it was an old handwritten Gospel and many other ancient books.
