Starokon market, Odessa

Starokon market of Odessa - the oldest of today`s Odessa markets. He organized in 1833 under the name "bestial Bazaar". This is the same hot spot, where for 1-2 hours you can learn all about the city, its colorful citizens edge tradition, rules and history. Dozens of famous writers, contemporary journalists and tourists begin their acquaintance with Odessa from here. Rumor has it that the current market has changed dramatically, and differs from the previous one. There were hundreds of new signs, crowded stalls, monotonous and faceless range of entrepreneurs. Half a century ago there was a product the most diverse: from classic books to the tusks of the walrus and sea compass. Citizens endured unusual items for sale, drawing customers special, peculiar only to the inhabitants of Odessa, talk.

The history of the market began with the dawn of horseracing Russian aristocracy. These hundreds of new imported breeds, praised already familiar kinds of horses and buying foreign. The market demanded expansion and it was moved to another area, so this became known as "Starokon" and have traded all that can be sold from bread and vegetables to used clothing and various equipment. In 2004, the market was reconstructed. Now everything is built on a modern architecture.
